Tyent USA Looks at Droughts and Water Conservation

Water Conservation Becoming Ever More Necessary

Water Leaf    Ironically, though water covers two thirds of our planet, clean drinking water and in some places, water itself, is becoming scarcer by the minute.  City municipalities are struggling to keep up with demand from an ever-growing population.

Cities and states around the country are imploring people to reduce their water usage through increased conservation measures.

West Coast Water Woes

Drought     California is in the throws of a three-year drought (the worst in decades), that has potentially dire consequences for many areas of the state.

Despite California Governor Jerry Brown’s plea for a voluntary statewide reduction in water usage by 20%, reports show only a 5% reduction for the past year.

Tyent USA BREAKS DOWN SOME POPULAR DIETS PART 2

The Whole World’s On a Diet!  Part 2

Feet on scale

It seems a new diet fad comes on the market almost weekly promising to be the diet to end all diets.

Dieting, for many millions of people, can be an ongoing exercise in futility and frustration.  Many of us, either have dieted ourselves, or have known someone who has dieted, often with little or only short-term success.

All diet plans claim they will help us lose weight and enjoy a healthier and more rewarding lifestyle.  And isn’t that the goal, to shed those excess pounds and feel better about ourselves while staving off disease?

Yesterday’s blog ended by touching on the Paleo Diet.  This diet, also referred to as the Caveman Diet

Tyent USA Breaks down some popular diets

Extra! Extra!   The Whole World Is On A Diet!

Tape around scale  Diets.  These days, it seems nearly everyone gets on a diet at one time or another.

It is little wonder that with all the sugar, fat, artificial flavors and chemicals found in processed food today, along with an increased consumption of sugar-charged soft drinks, that more people are overweight than ever before.  And more and more people are dieting.

I have often wondered when I heard someone say, “I’m starting a new diet”, what happened with the old one?  If it made sense at the time and proven to work, why didn’t it?  Mainly, I have discovered, the reasons are two-fold, diets are very hard to

Fun Friday At Tyent USA!

                                      Hey everybody…it’s Fun Friday!

FRIDAY YAY!

Here’s some good news.  Friday is here and if you are reading this, you are too!

After five successful days, another work-week is in the books here at Tyent USA and it’s time for a little R & R.

With baseball in full swing, I thought I’d share one of my favorite baseball jokes.

Good News & Bad News

Baseball batter     Phil and Bill were major league ball players on the same team.  They were best friends, loved baseball, and had known each other since they were kids.  They played baseball together in grade school, in high school, on the same team in college, and up through the ranks to the pros.

Realizing

Tyent USA’S Recipe of the Week

The Fourth of July is Over… it’s Time for Some Fish!

I love cooking (and eating) burgers, steaks, and chicken, but after a carnivorous holiday, I like a change-up pitch and that’s where fish comes in.

I love fish.  Rich in Omega-3 fatty acids and lower in fat than many meats, fish can be a tasty alternative.   Having said that, I especially like a good fish recipe when it is easy to make, quick to get on the table, and is delicious.

Keeping with the baseball metaphors, this recipe covers all the bases.   This fish recipe calls for Tilapia but you can substitute Orange Roughy if you like and it is just as delicious.

On a personal note,

earth drop on grass   Water is the sustainer of life.  Every living plant and creature on planet Earth depends on water for their existence.

From the sixteen thousand pound African elephant, to the three-gram, Ruby Throated hummingbird, and all animals in between, none can live without water.

Each year the average person (if there is such a thing) drinks up to fifty-eight gallons of water.

I thought it might be interesting and a little fun to lay out some fascinating facts for you about water, its consumption, and mystery.

Earthly Water Facts by the Numbers

Tyent USA, Vitamins and Tyent Water

Three New Studies Conclude; Vitamins Don’t Work!

That’s life.  Just as you start settling in and getting comfortable with what you have always believed was good and healthy for you, along comes another scientific study that says it’s time to readjust the paradigm.

Vitamin pile of pills     This time, the target is vitamins.  Growing up, I had always heard; take vitamin C for colds, B12 for energy, A and D for strong bones, etc.  However, several recent studies by various and sundry doctors, conclude that while taking vitamins is big business, it is not necessarily good science.

For this blog, along with other sources, I relied on Brenda Goodman’s article for WebMD in which she lays out the results of three studies

Tyent USA and Super Foods

What are Super Foods and What is so Super about Them?

Shopping-cart-or-trolley-full-of-vegetables

We hear so much these days about the so-called super foods, but I wanted to know what criteria are used to determine whether a food qualifies as super.

Here is what I learned.  As with most topics of discussion, there are many variables.  The first one being subjectivity.  Being subjective usually translates to “in my opinion.”  While many experts agree which foods qualify as super foods, many do not.  It is subjective.  There used to be about five to ten foods on the super list, but in my research, I have discovered lists of ten, twenty, and even as many as a hundred foods
