Tip to Optimize Your Health #1: Drink More Water!
Our bodies are made up of 78% water – as water is needed for every single process in the human body. Unfortunately, most people are mildly dehydrated and do not realize it.
Symptoms of mild dehydration can consist of walking around needlessly suffering from joint pain, headaches, backaches, hunger, cravings, weight gain, foggy thinking, and fatigue. Drinking water consistently throughout the day and every day is the key to keeping mild dehydration at bay. When our cells lack hydration, they are unable to function at an optimal level.
Drinking the right kind of water is crucial to staying properly hydrated since water is a basic pillar of health. Do your best to stay away from drinking chlorinated tap water that is known to be a toxin to your entire body and can kill your beneficial gut bacteria – and choose alkaline water that is rich in molecular hydrogen.
A 2010 quality review study on molecular hydrogen was published in Free Radical Research, stating: “It is not an overstatement to say that hydrogen’s impact on therapeutic and preventive medicine could be enormous in the future.”

Thinking about just three good moments or things that happened during the day will help you see considerable improvements in your quality of life – such as a decrease in depression symptoms and an increase in your overall happiness.
Gratitude is a frame of mind that can help to optimize your overall health and mental well-being – when practiced daily!
Tip to Optimize Your Health #5: Reduce Excess Carb Intake!
Eating a diet that’s full of an excess of carbohydrates can leave your body in a wake of poor health as the years go by because your body breaks down carbs into glucose – which is why I recommend that you strive to reduce excess carb intake.
Although glucose is an essential source of energy – the amount of glucose found in your blood and how quickly your blood’s glucose level rises after you ingest carbs are important factors that impact your health with conditions such as:
- Weight Gain
- Type 2 Diabetes
- Heart Disease
- Poor mitochondrial health
- And various other health conditions
For optimal effect – you should reduce your carb intake by 20-50 grams a day by eliminating packaged, prepared and processed foods from your diet.
Tip to Optimize Your Health #6: Stress Less!
We all know that stress is not healthy for us. Stress doesn’t just affect our health – stress also has a powerful impact on our thoughts, feelings, and behavior.
Not all stress is bad, however. Stress can spur us into action, help us perform at our best, and help us to save our own lives when in danger. Our ancestors would experience stress when they were being chased by a lion – but that didn’t happen 24/7!
It’s important to note that stress did not kill the caveman, and our response to danger (stress) hasn’t changed at all…but the stressors have. Unfortunately, the type of stress that many people experience the most is chronic stress that has become such a large part of our human existence. We were never meant to live with chronic stress.
Studies show that getting in tune with our bodies through mindfulness (being aware of bodily sensations) slashes stress and depression. Exercise is the number one stress reduction technique used to reduce and prevent stress – but you can also use specific breathing techniques such as Box Breathing.
Box Breathing was created by the Navy Seals as a breathing technique to use to stop the stress response in its tracks. You can perform Box Breathing anywhere – while driving, to promote sleep, to go back to sleep, before a big event, etc.)
You can perform Box Breathing in under 30 seconds by:
- Simply breathing in through your nose for 5 seconds
- Then hold your breath for 5 seconds
- Then exhale for 5 seconds
- And hold again for 5 seconds
Tip to Optimize Your Health #7: Sleep More!
There are many reasons as to why we need to ensure that we get quality sleep every night.
A 2013 study found that the brain needs sleep to help clear out the ‘junk’ that builds up in our minds and thoughts during the day. Much like how the lymphatic system needs to be cleaned of cellular junk, so does the so-called “glymphatic system,” which is known as a waste clearance pathway or a brain ‘shampoo’ if you will.
This is where sleep comes into play – because while we are sleeping and dreaming, our brains are at work, taking out metabolic waste.
Chronic poor-quality sleep is linked to:
- An increased risk of heart disease
- An increase in weight gain and obesity
- An increase in depression and stress
- An increase of inflammation in the body
- Any many more health conditions
To help increase your quality of sleep – try these timeless hacks:
- Go to sleep at the same time each night – even on weekends.
- Move any clocks that you may have in your bedroom out of sight to help keep you from focusing on the time.
- Keep your room at a very cool temperature to help you fall asleep faster.
- Scent your room and pillows with lavender essential oil spray that can help relax you to sleep because the aroma may also relax your nerves, lower your blood pressure, and put you in a relaxed state.
- Stay away from electronic devices 60-90 minutes before bedtime because the bright lighting on the screen of the devices can keep you wide awake.
To help you fall asleep faster and put you back to sleep – practice this very powerful and effective sleep (and stress) 4-7-8 deep breathing technique:
- Breathe in through the nose for 4 seconds
- Hold for 7 seconds
- Exhale for 8 seconds
- Repeat 6 times or as often as necessary
Along with nutrition and exercise, good sleep is one of the most important components of a healthy life. You simply cannot achieve optimal health without taking care of your sleep.
