Here is a story pulled directly from the news headlines yesterday.

Pennsylvania Bottling Company Recalls Bottled Water Due To Possible E. Coli Contamination.”

If the risk of E.Coli being in your water is not enough to make you stop buying bottled water, then here are more reasons.

5 Reasons to STOP Drinking Bottled Water Now

  1. It’s wasteful. Producing the bottles for American consumption requires the equivalent of more than 17 million barrels of oil, not including the energy for transportation.
  2. It’s expensive. Bottled water can cost anywhere from 240 to 10,000 times more than tap water.
  3. It’s bad for the environment.  Only about 13% of plastic bottles used get recycled. That results in 2 million tons of plastic water bottles in landfills and oceans.
  4. It’s a health risk because of E.coli, and BPA residue risk.
  5. It has no antioxidants, and most brands have an acidic pH

“But it’s so convenient…”

Is Buying Bottled Water Really Convenient?

Hmmmm…let me think about how I get bottled water to my house. I go to my car, go to store, do a heave-ho lift to get it in my cart, it takes up all the cart space, load it into my car, lug it into my house, unload it and it takes up a ton of space in my house…each week.

52 times a year!

Okay, let’s face it…bottled water is not so convenient after all. Now I’m thinking…with all of the other healthier and more convenient options for healthy water, why would I ever buy bottled water again?

So does drinking bottled water mean that you’re drinking pure, clean and filtered water bottled from the magnificent waterfalls of some ancient spring?

Well, I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news…it’s NOT TRUE!

I fell victim for this story years ago myself, and it was really hard to digest the facts.

Where is Bottled Water REALLY from?

Did you know that most bottled water comes from municipal water sources? In other words, you are paying big bucks every week for bottled tap water, the same stuff that comes out of your kitchen faucet. Bottled water can cost up to 10,000 times more than tap water. To get a good idea of where your bottled water actually comes from, take a look at the Bottled Water Scorecard from the Environmental Working Group.

E. Coli Facts

Let’s take a moment to talk about the risks from E. Coli, shall we? Do you know exactly what E. Coli is or what it can do to you or your family? According to the Mayo Clinic, Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria can cause severe abdominal cramps, bloody diarrhea and vomiting. Young children and older adults have a greater risk of developing a life-threatening form of kidney failure.

“Human and animal feces may pollute ground and surface water, including streams, rivers, lakes and water used to irrigate crops. Although public water systems use chlorine or ozone to kill E. coli, some outbreaks have been linked to contaminated municipal water supplies.

Private wells are a greater cause for concern because they don’t often have any disinfecting system. Rural water supplies are the most likely to be contaminated. Some people also have been infected after swimming in pools or lakes contaminated with feces.”

That surely does not sound like something you want to ingest and get sick with. It actually sounds horrible!

    1. Hi, Kelly Marie. Adding salt might be a temporary solution to cleanse your bottled water and fill it with essential minerals that distillation gets rid of. However, too much salt, even Himalayan salt, isn’t good for our bodies. Ingesting too much salt over time can lead to illnesses. The salt content that you consume will accumulate if you keep using salt to remineralize each glass of water that you drink.

It’s better and more cost-effective to switch to drinking alkaline water, especially Tyent’s. Our water ionizers not only fill your drinking source with the essential minerals that distilled water lacks, but they also produce molecular hydrogen, the most powerful antioxidant on the planet.
