Do you feel as though no matter how often you clean, your house still feels dirty? There are several reasons why your house still feels dirty, even though you’ve been slogging away trying to get it clean. Read on and change the way you clean forever!
Clutter is like the anti-clean. No matter how much you clean, if you’ve got years of junk hanging around waiting to be sorted, thrown out or donated to a good cause, your home will not feel clean.
Throw out the throws! Not all of them, but there is a limit to how many you can drape or fold around the room without them adding to the dreaded clutter (see above).
Shine your skirting boards. Skirting boards quickly build up grime and dust. Wiping them once a week will keep them looking so much better.
Outlet plates look – and feel - grimy if you don’t keep them clean. Wipe them twice a week for a fresher look.
Piles of paperwork waiting to be dealt with look messy. Find a filing system or deal with it as it arrives.
Too much ‘stuff’ can look, well...too much. You don’t have to go minimal, but try to cut down on the picture frames, knick-knacks and ornaments for a cleaner feel.
Stained carpets are often why your home still feels dirty after cleaning. Either replace them or get a professional carpet cleaner in to do the job.
Stuffed bookcases look messy. Weed out the ones you really don’t need and only keep the books that you WILL read again.
Grimy curtains can certainly stop a room from looking clean. If they’re washable, wash them. Alternatively, take to the dry cleaner.
What about walls? A room in need of redecorating will make your home feel dirty.
Do your windows need cleaning? If your home still feels dirty, it could be down to not enough natural light getting through grimy panes!
Doors often have fingerprints and marks around the bottom. Wipe once a week so your home doesn't feel dirty.
Tidy dishes straight away instead of leaving them on kitchen surfaces.
Stop your family from leaving cords and wires tangled all over the place for a neater look!
Shoes everywhere can make your home feel dirty. Find a storage solution to suit your home and make sure everyone sticks to it!
Drab lighting doesn’t help. Use clever positioning of lamps and so on to create a brighter, cleaner ambiance.
All homes need fresh air to stop them feeling dirty Throw open the windows and get clean air circulating into every room, every day.
Plants looking a bit sad? Water them and trim off any dead or dying foliage.
Be brutal about bathroom stains, particularly around the toilet. Use Tyent Turbo Water to help keep things clean and fresh.
Tyent Turbo Water is also perfect for wiping down counters and cupboards – another spot that often gets missed.
Polish taps every day – stained ones look dirty.
Check out how clean your electrical appliances are – they really do attract the dust!
Is your vacuum cleaner working properly? If your home still feels dirty after cleaning, you might need to change the vacuum filters or bag/cylinder.
...and make sure that you clean right to the edges of each room, whether you have carpet or floorboards/tiles.
Invest in a home fragrance candle or diffuser that you find uplifting and clean smelling!
